Will Qatar be the host of Argentinean Messi’s and Portuguesa Ronaldo’s last world cup in 2022?
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be the final international tournament for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, two of soccer’s most contentious players. Both players have the talent around them to go out on top, but which will have the greatest impact on their team in Qatar?
Lionel Messi has stated that the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 will be his last World Cup. Messi, 35, has competed in every World Cup since 2006 when it was held in Germany. He helped Argentina reach the final of his 2014 World Cup final, losing to Germany 1–0.
Football’s ‘GOAT’ certainly won’t call time on his club career after Qatar 2022, but it will be the last chance to see him play in a World Cup. Messi has already said as much, admitting that he is “counting down the days” until the tournament begins.
WHAT HE SAID: “Is it my last World Cup? Yes, surely yes, surely yes,” Messi told Star+. “I am counting down the days to the World Cup. There is a bit of anxiety and nerves at the same time. Wanting it to be now and the nerves that were are already there, what is going to happen. It’s the last one, how are we going to do. Yes, on the one hand, we can’t wait for it to arrive and on the other hand, we’re scared of wanting it to go well.”

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in 17 FIFA World Cup matches and scored seven goals. He scored in every edition from 2006 to 2010, 2014, and 2018. The 37th FIFA World Cup will be held in Qatar in 2022. Cristiano Ronaldo, who is one year old, has one more chance to win the coveted title.
When asked about the Qatar tournament, the national team captain stated that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar would be his final world cup and that he was excited to see the spectacle there.
“Very good, for me. I expect Qatar could be my final World Cup. I often go on holiday there, to Qatar as well as Dubai. I am happy because for sure it will be the last international tournament.”
